The Journey to Motherhood- Part 6

Plan B:

So yesterday we had our follow-up appointment. They did an ultrasound to see how everything looked after having done the Norethindrone for 21 days.
Unfortunately, no change. The endometrioma that are on my ovaries are pretty big. One is over 26cm. Because of this, the option we have is to go back to surgery and have the endo removed. We are scheduling that today, and it should take place in a week or two.

The other part of our appointment was spent talking about our options with Clint's antibodies. Pretty much the doctor gave us 3 options because of this:

1. IUI (intro-uterine insemination). They take sperm and inject it directly into the uterus, giving it more of a chance to fertilize the egg. The only concern is that we wont have enough mobile sperm to use. The odds of success with this procedure are less then 25%. Cost is $300 a month, and usually it's 4 cycles.

2. Use donor sperm- TOTALLY out of the question.

3. IVF- chances go up to 70%-80%, and cost is anywhere from $15,000-$18,000!

With those 3 as our options....we are going with #1 first. #2 is out...and #3 will be last resort.

So yesterday was a very exhausting, trying day. Today I try not to focus on it. The pain from the endo is not making that very easy.

I just keep praying.
