Homemade Christmas Ornaments

I was inspired by many of the blogs I stalk to create some personalized Christmas ornaments. I decided that we will each get an ornament each year that represents something from that year that means a lot to us. I want Christmas to be a time when the kids love getting the tree decorations out and unwrapping each ornament...oh the excitement.
I remember the "pee-my-pants" excitement I felt waiting to decorate our tree each year. This year I did it by myself and stood and thought "this is not creating any memories". So out with the old...in with the new.

I bought Laynie and ornament that has paint brushes and paper with her name on it...since she LOVES doing art. Blake got a boy riding on a skateboard...since he spends countless hours outside riding his. Clint got a hand painted one with his catamaran sailing in the sea on it.... for our trip to Padre this year. Bruce got a big #2 with a little baby bear on it for his "second" Christmas. I got a little Christmas house with a place for a family picture and it says, "Our Family, 2008". I loved putting a tiny picture of all of us in it!

So.... here are a few of the ornaments we created together. Blake made one for our neighbor, Grace (she's 3) and Laynie made one for Grace's sister Lydia (she's 10).
I made the ones for Laynie and Blake. Simple rub-on letters and very messy fake snow to pour inside...and ta-da....

I'm getting ready to make some for my niece and nephews too.

Still Learning!

Last night was Blake's Christmas program at school. We got there early (or so we thought) and ended up having to sit in the way back. So what does one do? Send the 12 yr old to the front to sit on the floor and video with the new Flip!!
Laynie did a good job, but I can't figure out how to get it in the same quality as what I can see when I watch it in it's origional form. So, i'm sorry for the poor quality, but I'm still learning.

Blake did a great job. As you can see, he's the one in the front with all the rythm. He may not be my child by blood...but somehow he got MY rythm!!

Jr. and "Ma-Ma"

It was only a matter of time..

...before Jr. decided to investigate the Christmas Tree. He has been really good about not touching the tree or the gifts at all. Last night he decided to take a peek.He only yanked one off, but quickly tried to put it back on. He's more interested in the lights.
I can't wait to watch him open gifts!!

Who Needs Christmas Presents?

When you have a baking pan, a wooden spoon & a potato smasher!!!

The Dryer Trick

Last night while folding clothes, Jr. decided he wanted to help... meaning he wanted to put his paci and all the toys he could find into the dryer. After I got done folding the clothes I turned around to put them on the table, it was 5 seconds or less.... yes, I know this is still enough time for an 18 month old to get into trouble...but still....

When I turned back around I found this

And my cute neighbor, Grace, thinking it's really funny.

Sorry for the blurry pics...I'm not sure what happened with that!

Christmas Kids

Christmas Tree Farm- A family tradition!

Yesterday we took advantage of the 60 degree weather and headed to the Christmas Tree Farm!! I'm sure you can remember how cold and rainy it was last year...if not, go here and read all about it.
Off we went to find the "perfect" tree.

Hmmmm, how about this one?

Talk and discuss....decide, ummm, no.

Yeah, off to keep looking!!

Blake was our "price inspector"!

Ahhhh, finally...the "one"!!

Blake attempting to cut it down then Dad took over!

All in a days work!

Little Jr.'s surgery

Poor little Jr! Last Thursday we went in to have his adenoids removed and have tubes put in both ears. He really was a trooper until he was coming out of the anesthesia. He was grumpy and disoriented. I felt so bad for him. Once it wore off he seemed to be just fine. This morning was the first morning since that we have not had to give him a bath to rid him of his snotty slime! Hopefully that's just one of the first things to go! Thank you to everyone that said a little prayer for him! We appreciated all the help and support!

Before surgery.... enjoying the warm blanket!

After surgery, not enjoying much of anything! Poor baby!

Slowly but Surely!

My $3.99 thrift store find is almost complete. Clint laughs because he says I can no longer say it was only $3.99. Truth be told, I only spend $20 on the shades at Hobby Lobby and $13 on the fringe. I'm still thinking you couldn't find a super cute teal chandelier with black shades accented with bling for $37! Last night while we sat and watched "Prancer" as a family I was busy at work on finishing my shades. Now all I need is the light bulbs and I'm done!! So here is what I have so far...

My Finished Curtains

I finally finished my new curtains! I'm pleased with how they turned out. It's amazing how you can change a window with some fabric and a staple gun!

They go great with my teal chandalier...which I still LOVE!

Christmas Decor? MY FAV!

I love, love, love decorating the house for Christmas! All the lights, smells, sounds...it's all so fab!

I started getting stuff out after Thanksgiving. Clint put lights on the house (or up the walkway), I got out my Christmas Village and other fun decor.
This weekend we are going to go cut down our Christmas tree. No, not out in someones pasture...but at a real Christmas Tree Farm! Remember from last year?
So I can't wait to get our tree, make some hot coco and some eggnog shakes (my new fav...thanks Kerri) and make some new Christmas memories!

Gobble Gobble

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Here's a few pics from ours. Clint, Jr. and I went to my Aunts house to enjoy some family time.

Everyone smiling because they are ridiculously full! Oh, wait...where's Doddie? (Grandpa)...

OH...there he is! Taking his signature after dinner "snooze".

Bobbie showing Jr. the accordion! He loved sitting and watching her play.

Ah, me and Bobbie! (Grandma)
