Family Fun

This past weekend my sister and her family made a stop at our house on their way to/from Rolla, MO (where her sister in-law graduated from college this weekend).
We had a lot of fun with the kids. They are really growing like crazy. I'm still not sure how my sister does it day in and day out with a 7 month old, a 2 1/2 year old, and a 4 1/2 year old!!! All so full of energy!

Izzy enjoying some McDonalds!

Luke and his favorite things (dinos, cars, animals)

"Little" Ma Ty-Ty (Matthias)

All of this cuteness and some diaper cakes to make and send to California!

Almost Finished!

You all remember this bench... my cute thrift store find for $12?

And this cute material I picked out to recover the seat....

Here is the new bench all dressed up in GREEN!!! So cute!
Now I just have to make sure it doesn't need a 3rd coat...and then attach the fabric and put the seat back on. Then im DONE! Can't wait!!

Bench Seat Makeover

After I got Laynie's "makeup" table done, I made sure to keep my eye out for a little seat to put in front of it. On Sunday my BFF and I went out of our cozy 5 mile range and landed at a "thrift" store on the South side of OKC. I was glad though because I found this little beauty!
Isn't she so CUTE!? For only $12 I HAD to have her! After work yesterday I started working on the seat.
I had to first remove the legs. This was WAY easier then I thought. Just 4 screws...
And Ta-Da! (Remember I'm new at this whole "makeover" old furniture thing, so it's the little things that get me excited!!)

Then I took a hammer and proceeded to rip off the old fabric. It was secured by little upholstery nails, so it was fairly easy to remove!

Then I assessed the original padding and decided that it looked pretty good, so it was off to cut the fabric to size. Of course I left about 2 inches overhang so that I could wrap it around tightly and staple it!

I decided that I wasn't 100% sure about the fabric choice, so I wrapped the seat and just taped it in place just so I could get the idea.
I LOVE IT! The fabric actually matches one of the letters in the initials I did for her wall...
So, now I'm going to paint the legs a cute lime green and possibly put a cute pom-pom trim on it too. We'll see how daring I get! This project will get done in a few days since I have diaper cakes to make and family to entertain tomorrow night.
:)
Stay tuned!

Garage Sale Finds

Last Saturday the kids and I did a little garage sale shopping (as much as we could despite the rain). I was REALLY striking out and wanted to just GIVE UP...until I stumbled upon these darlings!
I got a pair for $8!! I am in the process of totally redoing my living room and I am going to repaint these chairs and cover them in this fabric by Amy Butler (LOVE HER)!

With a little help from Living With Lindsay (check out her wonderful tute about recovering a thrift store chair here)...I think I can recover these with little to no help from the hubby! we'll see...hee hee.
