Ready, Set, RACE then off to Camp!

Last weekend we took Blake to race at Pole Position Raceway. Thanks to Aunt Kendra & Uncle Trent, Blake had a gift card to spend! He got to race 3 races...and got a t-shirt. He LOVES that place. I get sick just watching!!

He had loads of fun and almost fell asleep in the car on the way home!

Then on Sunday Blake left for Life Church Kids Camp. He goes to the same place Laynie was, Camp WOW. He was so excited that he said his goodbyes and couldn't get on the bus fast enough. I'm not sure if that's a compliment that he is very good meeting new people and doing new things, or a sign that he can't WAIT to get away from us! haha. I will stick with the first theory! Laynie came back the same day Blake left, so they got to see each other for about 5 min.

Laynie said she enjoyed the "little kids" camp better. She is used to being told where to be and what to do, and being the "big dog" around all the little kids. This year she was the small fish amongst a lot of older kids and got to do whatever she wanted. She wasn't too comfortable with that. I told her it gets her ready for what middle school will be like. Ahh change...gotta love it.

Off to Summer Camp

Laynie left for church camp today. Her friend Jessica went too, so they were both very excited!! This is Laynie's first year at the "older" camp. It's 6th graders through 12th grade! Blake leaves on Sunday. He is still with the younger crowd for another 3 years.
Camp WOW (Walk On Water) is a great area and the kids always have a terrific time. They are only gone for 4 nights, so Laynie wishes it would be longer.
I remember church camp when I was a kid... you looked forward to it all year long!
I hope the kids make memories to last a lifetime like we did! WOW, that made me sound OLD!

Lake Weekend

This past weekend we went to Lake Eufaula to spend some "quiet" time at my bosses house. He and his wife were not going to be using it, so they offered it to us.
We got there Friday evening.... I quickly realized just how "high maintenance" I am. I hate to admit that, but it's time. My name is Kathleen and I am HIGH maintenance. I like to refer to it as "knowing what I like"... but not everyone sees it that way.
I don't think I'm a snob necessarily, and if asked if I was having a good time I would say YES.... but deep down I would be thinking... get me OUT of HERE!
Don't get me wrong, my bosses place was great.... but the dirty lake and mosquitoes were just not for me.
On our first night there, I found Clint on the couch looking like this....

Nesting?

So, some would say (my husband) that I am in a "nesting" mode for when we get a foster child soon. I took these two pictures last night. Yes, there are a lot of clothes, but all were purchased at either a resale shop (for under $3.00 a piece) or at Kohl's (where the most expensive thing was $3.99). I have to preference all of that to make myself feel better for buying it all. I can always take something back that doesn't work.
Anyway, I will keep nesting....

Foster Care Update

Here's the latest.... Today I got a call from our worker at DHS with an update on our "file". She said that they are going to get an exception for my fingerprints, so that they can move ahead with the process without waiting on the results of the latest ones I did. I told her that we have changed our age range that we want to foster and that's from birth to 3 years . She said that was good because they have many young ones in care right now. Also, she said that next week she will do the walk through of Ruth and Jimmy's house (because we have them down as our alternative caregivers for when we need a babysitter or go out of town without the foster child) and get that done.
Clint said that I have started "nesting". I think he's right. I have been vacuuming the "extra" bedroom, folding and refolding the few things I have purchased, straightening the bed...etc.. almost every day. So I guess that's nesting. He's excited too, but a little less excited at the thought of loosing our every-other-week freedom we currently have.
So anyway, we'll see what happens next.

4th of July

I hope everyone had a safe, fun 4th of July weekend! We had a nice, relaxing weekend with the kids and our fabulous neighbors!
We invited everyone over for a front yard cookout and watched the fireworks at UCO from our neighborhood park. We really had a great time!

Foster Care Update!

We got a letter in the mail on Monday saying that my fingerprints were rejected. I had to go Tuesday to get them redone. Really that is the last thing we are waiting on so that we can move forward with the contract signing. After that, then we just wait for our first placement! More waiting....
